Sharon is passionate about her subject area and has lectured widely since 1992 through to today. She is currently Programme Director of Textiles at the UCA (University for the Creative Arts) and a specialist advisor in Textiles (print and dye specialism) for the Crafts Study Centre, Acquisitions Committee, where she works with colleagues responsible for developing the C.S.C collections. Sharon is also a member of FACE (Fashion Academics Creating Equality) and is currently the External Examiner for the BA Surface Pattern course at Staffordshire University and for the BA Textile Design course at Bath University.

She is an experienced academic, teaching previously as a visiting tutor on various textile and fashion courses at the Royal College of Art, London College of Communication, Wimbledon School of Art, Winchester School of Art, Bath University, Loughborough University and Nottingham University.

Her research interests feed into her academic roles and her work has been featured in various publications. She has recently written a new BA Textiles course for UCA’s Epsom campus. A multi-disciplinary course in sustainable, circular textile design with a primary focus on colour, material making, bio-fabrication. Dye, print and surface and constructed textiles, using off loom and digital 3D knit techniques. A course for a future generation of textile designers/artists/makers, who can design and create textiles with social and responsible awareness.
